Enrollment in the student supplementary group insurance plan is automatic, but you can withdraw at no cost during the plan’s change and withdrawal period. Your premium will be refunded by Plan Major after the end of the change and withdrawal period.
Withdrawal Period
For the fall semester: August 15 to September 30
For the winter semester: January 1 to January 31
Types of Withdrawal
During the withdrawal period, you have the option to withdraw from the plan. Members who are enrolled in the fall session and have retained their plan cannot withdraw during the winter session withdrawal period. Here are your options:
Annual withdrawal
Annual withdrawal allows you to temporarily withdraw from the plan for the current year. At the beginning of the following year, you will be automatically reinstated, giving you the opportunity to choose between staying in the plan or withdrawing again during the plan change and withdrawal period. Members enrolled in the fall session who have retained their plan cannot withdraw during the winter session withdrawal period.
Permanent withdrawal
Permanent withdrawal allows you to permanently withdraw from the plan for the duration of your academic career. This means you will never have to withdraw from the plan again. Plan contributions will no longer be billed to your institutional account. In addition, you will not be able to re-enter the plan except under certain exceptional circumstances, including a doubled contribution.
Partial withdrawal
In addition, during the withdrawal period, you have the option of making a full or partial withdrawal from the plan. In the case of a partial withdrawal, you can withdraw from the dental component or the supplementary health component. The supplemental health component also includes gender affirmation coverage, fracture coverage, accident coverage, travel coverage, identity theft assistance, pet assistance, and the student assistance program.
Submit a withdrawal request
Your withdrawal request must be submitted within the prescribed time frame. You will not have another opportunity to exercise your withdrawal option. To withdraw from the supplemental insurance plan, please log in to the Student Portal.

- Log in to your Student Portal
- In the “Services and Resources” category, find the “Finances” section.
- Click on “Change Insurance Coverage.”
