You are automatically registered in a group insurance plan. However, you can opt-out from the plan at no cost if you do so during the amendment period.
There are two kinds of opting-out:
Type 1: Annual opt-out
An annual withdrawal means that you are excluded from the insurance plan for the year. Therefore, you will be automatically reinstated the next year if you register as a student. You will then have to withdraw again, if you wish, during the amendment period.
Type 2: Permanent opt-out
A permanent withdrawal means that you are excluded from the insurance plan for the remainder of your time as a student at your educational institution. You will therefore not have to withdraw from the plan again, but you will not be able to rejoin unless certain conditions are met (Please visit the Reinstatement tab).
If you wish to withdraw from the plan, annually or permanently, you must do so on your student portal between August 15th and September 30th 2018 inclusively.
For newly registered students in the winter session, it is possible to withdraw from the insurance plan between January 1st and January 31st 2019 inclusively.
